On Wednesday, the wind will die down for a while. Later that day, winds from the northwest will change to the south at steady speeds of 10 to 15 miles per hour. Overcast skies will keep the highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

The lows will drop into the 30s and 40s Thursday morning, and clouds will grow overnight. But Thursday and Friday will have strong winds again, with up to 40 mph gusts. This could cause fires and blow dust around. Overcast to mostly cloudy skies will make the highs reach the 70s and 80s.

Friday brings a cold front that will drop temperatures into the 60s and 70s. Lows in the morning will be in the 30s and 40s. Light rain will likely fall late Friday night into Saturday morning in the far north. It might rain and snow a little, with a few inches of snow possible along and north of Highway 70. Light dustings could hit the Highway 62/82 corridor in the south.

The high temperature on Saturday will be in the upper 30s to low 50s. Saturday and Sunday mornings will be freezing. On Sunday morning, there might be a hard freeze on the Caprock. By Sunday, the weather will return to normal for the time of year. Monday and Tuesday will be warmer and windier, with more sunshine and the chance of dust blowing around.
