After a breezy Sunday morning following an early cold front, winds from the northeast have weakened, setting the stage for a chilly Monday morning. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-30s to low 40s before a shift in wind direction brings warmer conditions by the afternoon.

By Monday afternoon, southwesterly surface winds will return, pushing temperatures into the upper 70s and mid-80s across the region. While locally elevated fire weather conditions are possible, the fire risk should remain low due to relatively weak winds staying near or below 15 mph.

The warming trend will continue through midweek, with temperatures remaining above seasonal averages in the 70s and 80s through Wednesday. Conditions will stay dry and quiet until midweek, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop beginning Wednesday night as a more unsettled weather pattern moves into the region.

Stay tuned for updates from the KXAN First Warning Weather team as the week progresses.
