Lubbock commemorates Veterans Day with a weekend of events, including the ninth annual Veterans Day Parade and a Big Band dance at the Silent Wings Museum. The festivities commence at the museum on Friday evening at 5 p.m., with the doors opening for a nostalgic evening of live music.
Social Dance LBK offers dance lessons to guests before the primary performance. Finessence, a local band, will perform a live set from 6 to 8 p.m., allowing attendees to sway to the rhythms of the Big Band era. The Helen Jones Foundation, Inc. has generously provided the public with a cash bar and modest refreshments available at no cost.
The following day, the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Lubbock will commence, offering a stirring tribute to those who have served. The event is expected to unite residents in a demonstration of patriotism and community appreciation.
In addition, in recognition of the Veterans Day holiday, city, state, and federal offices, as well as specific local enterprises, will be closed on Monday, November 11. For more information regarding the Friday event, please consult the Silent Wings Museum's website or call (806) 775-3049.
