The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) released a notice and update as to their cybersecurity incident in September 2024.  TTUHSC discovered the incident that resulted in a temporary disruption to their computer systems. According to the findings of an inquiry, between September 17 and September 29, 2024, certain files on the HSCs' network were either removed or accessed without authorization.

The information that may be compromised may include personal details such as names, dates of birth, addresses, driver's licenses or other forms of government-issued identification, as well as information regarding financial accounts. In the case of some individuals, it may also include medical records, billing information, and information regarding health insurance.

In order to defend themselves from potential security breaches in the future, the HSCs have strengthened their security measures, evaluated their existing policies, and introduced additional protections. Individuals who have been affected are strongly encouraged to keep a close eye on their medical and financial accounts for any strange behavior and to consider activating fraud alerts or credit freezes as a preventative measure.

Those who are impacted will be provided with direct notifications, which will include free credit monitoring services. If you require any further assistance, you can reach a support line at 1-866-902-1996, which is open from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Time.
