Lubbock officials are uniting in support of State Representative Dustin Burrows as he positions himself to become the Speaker of the Texas House. On Saturday, Burrows announced that he has gathered enough votes to win and released a list of supporters backing his candidacy.

Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer praised Burrows in a statement on Sunday, describing him as a steadfast advocate for conservative values and a dedicated representative of West Texas. “Dustin Burrows is a true champion of the conservative values that reflect our way of life in Lubbock,” McBrayer said. “He has proven his ability to unite people across the state while ensuring Lubbock’s interests are never overlooked in Austin. He is a leader of the highest integrity, and we couldn’t ask for a better and more effective leader in the Texas House.”

Adding to the chorus of support, Lubbock County Precinct 1 Commissioner-Elect Mike Dalby highlighted Burrows’ ability to advance the priorities of West Texas on a statewide platform. “Representative Dustin Burrows has been able to successfully unite Texans across the state while implementing our West Texas Conservative values in Austin,” Dalby said. “He has and will continue to be a champion for Lubbock, Texas Tech, and all of West Texas. I fully support my friend and Representative of District 83 Dustin Burrows.”

With his support base solidified in Lubbock and across Texas, Burrows is poised to assume one of the most powerful roles in state government. His track record of bridging divides and championing regional interests has made him a favorite among conservative leaders and constituents alike.

As the legislative session approaches, Lubbock’s leaders are hopeful that Burrows’ leadership will bring significant benefits to the region.
