A man from Lynn County was arrested after he reportedly shot at Lubbock County Commissioner Jason Corley on December 13 during a fight. Deputies were called to CR 2 and FM 2192 in Lynn County to reports of shots being fired. Dustin Patterson, 46, is now being charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.

The Commissioner for Precinct 2 in Lubbock County, Corley, told the police that Patterson shot at him during a fight but missed. A short time after the event, Patterson was arrested and taken to the Lynn County Jail. He paid a $15,000 fee and got out of jail the next day.

Corley talked about the dangerous encounter in a statement after it happened. He said, "I hope my mistake of not carrying my gun on Friday serves as a reminder to us all always to be ready to defend our own lives if necessary." Corley worried about his family and said that his wife and kids would have found him if he had been killed.

People are worried about their safety after Patterson's arrest, with many pointing out how quickly a disagreement can turn into a life-threatening scenario. The case is still being looked into, and Patterson is likely to face more court action.
