Employees from University Medical Center (UMC) cheer on Brown Elementary School kids at Lubbock ISD as the last time the school bell rang before Winter Break. Following a beloved 16-year legacy, UMC employees distributed 125 food bags to guarantee kids have access to wholesome meals during the vacation.

Worth about $35, each bag is carefully loaded with basics such as peanut butter, jelly, bread, and many snacks, including beef jerky, chips, pudding cups, and fruit snacks. UMC's Legal and Compliance Departments load the bags; Emergency Medical Services (EMS) handles delivery.

"One of the main social determinants of health is food insecurity," said Senior Vice-President & Chief Legal Officer Kristi Duske. "UMC emphasizes its role in the community as a partner for those in need, and its staff prioritizes service as their passion.”

Apart from the food bag project, UMC shows its commitment to community welfare by financing activities all year round. Designed to deepen relationships and offer support where most needed, they include teacher appreciation breakfasts, school supply drives, and community picnics.

UMC's dedication to returning once more this holiday season emphasizes its importance as a key community partner in making sure local families experience compassion and care.
