Next week, people who support the Texas South Plains Honor Flight can make a difference by just going out to eat and listening to local radio. From April 21 to April 26, several restaurants in Lubbock will donate a portion of their sales to the Honor Flight. This organization gives veterans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the memorials dedicated to them in Washington, D.C.
On Monday, April 21, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., Beef O'Brady's (5510 4th Street) will give away some of its profits to start the week. On Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Texas Roadhouse (6101 Slide Road) will join the event. On Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Bubba's 33 (6210 Slide Road) does the same. The last "Dine & Donate" event will take place on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be held at Perry's Pizzeria & Taphouse, located at 11430 Quaker Avenue. When people eat, they should say that they support the Honor Flight.
The fundraising effort concludes on April 26 with a full day of events hosted by KSSL FM at the Lubbock Elks Lodge, located at 3409 Milwaukee Avenue. You can listen to the KSSL Radiothon from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and hear interviews with veterans, live music, and information on how to donate. People can listen online, at 107.3 FM, or 94.1 FM.
People can also attend a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and enjoy a lunch of meat plates. Items can be seen at the Elks Lodge during the silent sale, which ends at 3 p.m.
All the money raised goes towards paying for the next Honor Flight, which takes soldiers to national memorials to reflect on their service.
