Derek Johnson, 27, a former Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy, was arrested Friday morning on allegations of sharing private information. Johnson was fired from the department on October 10 after a criminal inquiry into his activities started.

The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) Criminal Investigation Unit identified Johnson's probable misbehavior and placed him on administrative leave before terminating his employment. After the investigation was completed, the case was turned over to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

On Friday, at about 10:30 a.m., the LCSO got an active arrest warrant for Johnson. He was taken into arrest at about 12:20 p.m. and lodged in the Lubbock County Detention Center. Johnson was released later that day on a $1,000 bond at 3:34 p.m.

The sheriff's office has not provided specifics about the confidential information Johnson is accused of sharing.

This is a developing story, and we will offer updates as more information becomes available.
