Celestino Carrillo was appointed deputy constable for Precinct 3 by the Lubbock County Commissioners Court, indicating the county's ongoing expansion of its constable personnel. County Judge Curtis Parrish celebrated the decision, which was unanimously authorized during Monday's regular session. He commended Carrillo's prior work as a deputy at the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office in courthouse security, an experience he said is well-suited to the constable role.
Judge Parrish underscored Carrillo's familiarity with county operations. "I am proud of the individual we have chosen." After administering the oath of office, Parrish declared, "His experience at the courthouse makes this a seamless transition."
Constable Jose Sanchez, who was appointed in January following the resignation of longstanding Democratic Constable Marina Garcia, joins Carrillo. Sanchez, who is unopposed in the forthcoming general election, expressed his approval of the inclusion, which is anticipated to enhance the service capacity of Precinct 3.
This is Lubbock County's second deputy appointment in a year; in November, the court designated Janet Calderon as deputy constable in Precinct 1. The commissioners' ongoing endeavors to increase the number of deputy positions are intended to enhance local law enforcement support and guarantee adequate coverage across precincts.
