Texas Tech handed No. 11 Iowa State its first season defeat in a thrilling 23-22 victory on Saturday night. The Red Raiders' dramatic comeback secured their bowl eligibility and improved their overall record to 6-3, as they advanced to 4-2 in conference play.

Behren Morton, the quarterback, completed 21 of 40 passes for 237 yards, scored two touchdowns and threw two interceptions by the game's conclusion. Tahj Brooks, a running back, had an exceptional evening, accumulating 122 rushing yards and one touchdown on 25 carries. Brooks also achieved a career milestone by exceeding 4,000 career rushing yards, making him the ninth player in the Big 12 and the third Red Raider to do so. Two touchdowns, eight receptions, and 127 yards were also achieved by receiver Josh Kelly.

The contest commenced with a low-scoring first half, with Texas Tech leading 10-3 after the first quarter. Just before halftime, Iowa State momentarily gained control, securing a 13-10 lead after a Morton interception. Texas Tech's fourth-quarter rally was bolstered by a critical defensive stand, which prevented Iowa State from attempting a 51-yard field goal and a critical two-point conversion. Brooks scored a touchdown with only 20 seconds remaining, capping off a 71-yard drive that secured the victory.

The Red Raiders secured the victory despite incurring 84 penalty yards from ten penalties. On November 9, Texas Tech will welcome Colorado to its home stadium for the Celebrate America Game & Hall of Fame Weekend.
