Monday's highs will barely reach the upper 40s in the north and the mid-50s in the south. This will make it a cold start to the week in Lubbock and the South Plains. Winds from the northeast at 12 to 18 miles per hour will make it feel even colder, with wind chills staying in the 30s and 40s all day. People in the area are told to bundle up if they go outside.

Night lows will range from the mid-20s in the northwest South Plains to the low-30s in the Rolling Plains. This happens as the sun goes down. There will likely be light frost, so it's best to keep pets inside and protect easily hurt plants.

Highs will rise into the 50s and 60s on Tuesday, giving us a short break. On Wednesday, it will be even warmer, hitting the 70s. But clouds and winds from the southwest at 12 to 18 mph will show that a cold front is coming late Wednesday.

There is a chance that snowflakes will mix in with the rain in the north because of the cold air behind the front. There won't be any considerable rain or snow, and the total precipitation will stay below 0.10 inches. When the front comes through, it will bring strong northerly winds that can hit 30 to 40 MPH.

Temperatures will drop sharply by Thursday morning, falling across the region to the low 20s and high 30s. The weather will stay dry, but people should prepare for the sudden temperature drop and strong winds.
