The Lubbock Police Department (LPD) is reaching out to families and drivers to encourage them to take additional precautions to ensure the safety of trick-or-treaters as Halloween draws near. Because of the increased foot traffic, the likelihood of accidents is higher, and the Los Angeles Police Department wants everyone to have a safe holiday.

The Los Angeles Police Department recommends that families plan their trips in advance to reduce the likelihood of accidents. Being comfortable with your surroundings and having a backup plan will help you avoid uncertainty and ensure that the evening goes off without a hitch. If you are going to go trick-or-treating after dark, it is recommended that you wear fluorescent clothes to ensure that drivers can see you. The Los Angeles Police Department recommends going before sundown.

If a child is going to go trick-or-treating on their own, parents should make sure that they have a way to get in touch with an adult in case they need to. Additionally, parents should encourage their children to travel in groups.
