Court records offer further analysis of Devante Edwards, 25's fatal gunshot in West Lubbock in December. Police say Bryan Garcia, 23, and Xavier Garcia, 21 killed Edwards over narcotics and a weapon in what they characterize as a premeditated act.

On December 12 Edwards was discovered in his garage close to 26th Street and Iola Avenue with several gunshot wounds. At the scene, police found drugs and Edwards' phone that exposed damning Snapchat and text messages.

Messages show Bryan Garcia haggling with Edwards earlier that day for $3,400 to buy disposable THC vape pens and other substances. Xavier Garcia texted about getting a pistol hours before the trade, then subsequently advised Bryan "sticking them up."

Bryan messaged Edwards to confirm his arrival at 10:57 p.m. Moments before muzzle flashes, surveillance footage caught a pickup connected to Xavier arrive at Edwards' house.

Police found video footage showed Bryan firing a stolen gun connected to the murder several days following the shooting. From the scene, they gathered shell casings and linked them to Bryan's firearm.

Bryan, detained during a SWAT search of his house, was further linked by an undercover narcotics operation on Christmas Eve. Charges of first-degree murder confront both individuals.

As authorities work for justice for Edwards, the case emphasizes the importance of digital evidence in solving violent crim
