Next Level Chef Star Angie Ragan Opens ‘Salt by Angie’ in Downtown Lubbock

Celebrity chef Angie Ragan is introducing a new culinary experience and warm hospitality to Downtown Lubbock by opening her restaurant, Salt by Angie. Hailing from the Hub City, Ragan gained recognition following an impressive fifth-place finish on Season 1 of Gordon Ramsay’s Next Level Chef. She is now establishing her foundation in the city that ignited her culinary adventure.

Drawing inspiration from her grandmother, who previously operated the cherished Colonial Kitchen in Lubbock, Ragan expresses that her new restaurant transcends mere commerce — it is an homage to her roots and her affection for the community. Salt by Angie, situated at 1109 Broadway, will celebrate its official opening with a grand ceremony and ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

“This marks the first occasion in my adult life that I find myself down here, strolling through downtown,” Ragan remarked. “I enjoy our efforts to enhance Downtown Lubbock — it’s delightful.” Despite lacking formal training from a culinary school, Ragan attributes her development as a chef to her determination and life experiences. “You must be relentless,” she stated. “One must be prepared to put in 21 hours of effort, shed tears, and then rise to do it all over again.”

Her vision for Salt by Angie transcends merely offering great food. She aspires to provide warmth and connection, ensuring that each guest feels like part of the family. “I wish for you to sense that you were anticipated,” she expressed. “Every action we take here is purposeful — this restaurant embodies my affection for this community.”
