The Lubbock Police Department (LPD) worked with state and local police to carry out six operations against human trafficking in the city. They rescued eight victims and arrested 11 people on different charges.
The month-long effort to tackle human trafficking occurred during National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. It was led by LPD's Special Operations Division and included the Crime Suppression and Vice Units, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Lubbock Fire Rescue, and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.
The operations focused on several places, including two massage parlors, where officials found and helped possible victims. Some people were caught in prostitution, asking for sex services and helping with prostitution. Four cases are still being looked into.
