Talat Jehan Khan, a pediatrician, was tragically killed outside of her Conroe apartment a year ago. Her family is still dealing with the loss and wants justice. Khan was stabbed to death on October 28, 2023, while sitting on a picnic table at the Alys Apartments. She was 52 years old.

The sad date is coming up, and her brother Saqib Khan talked about how the legal process has made their family feel. It's been hard for the whole family, especially going through the court system, he said. "Our sister and a very important person in the community died."

Miles Joseph Fridrich, 25, is still being held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $500,000 bond after being charged with her death. Fridrich was caught at the scene of the crime and charged with first-degree murder in January.

In a big change, Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon dropped the case in June, saying that Khan's family wasn't happy with the way the investigation was going, especially when it came to possible hate crime consequences.

The Texas Attorney General's Office is now in charge of the case.

As the family waits for justice, they are upset that the legal process is taking so long and doesn't seem to show how bad their loss was. "We are just trying to honor her memory and get justice for our sister," Saqib Khan said, pointing out that the search for closure is still going on.
