Jordyn Merritt, a Lady Raider for Texas Tech, has officially decided to retire from basketball because of ongoing health problems. The girl from Plano, Texas, told everyone about the news in a heartfelt statement. She thanked her family, teachers, teammates, and Lady Raider Nation for always being there for her.

According to Merritt, this wasn't an easy choice, but she had to make it for her long-term health and well-being. "These past two years will never be forgotten, and I will always treasure my time as a Lady Raider." In any way I can, I will continue to help my sisters with our goal.

Merritt has played over 2,500 minutes, scored 896 points, grabbed 592 rebounds, and blocked 95 shots. She started 31 of the 44 games she played during her two years at Texas Tech, scored 294 points, grabbed 216 rebounds, and blocked 49 shots.

Head coach Krista Gerlich said of Merritt, "Jordyn has been an important part of our program for the last two years." She will miss being on the court, but her health and happiness are important to us. Our team will always be better because of Jordyn's guidance and experience, and she'll always be a Lady Raider.

To Merritt's coworkers, seeing her on the sidelines will always inspire them as they work toward their goals.
