Lubbock began the day foggy, but skies will progressively brighten this afternoon as a cold front passes through the South Plains. While clouds will continue, the front will bring cooler weather to the area. Unfortunately, a white Christmas is out of the question this year, but calm and tranquil weather is predicted for Christmas Eve and Day.

The holiday weekend will be partly to mainly cloudy, with highs in the upper 50s on Christmas Day. Breezy winds are likely to increase in the afternoon, although conditions will stay largely stable. Fog may reappear on Christmas morning, but any remaining mist should disperse fast.

On Tuesday, stratus clouds will remain over the eastern and central zones, with rising mid-level clouds during the day. Areas outside the Caprock may see a few sprinkles, but substantial rainfall is unlikely. Continued cold advection will keep temperatures in the region lower.

Midweek weather brings a minor possibility of showers late Wednesday into early Thursday, with the heaviest rain likely overnight. This brief episode of moisture will be followed by warmer, drier weather beginning Friday.

Overall, Lubbock's Christmas weekend outlook is peaceful and ideal for family gatherings. Temperatures will remain warm, with highs in the upper 50s, and any precipitation will be limited to mid-week.
