As a result of the finding of human remains in Jal, New Mexico, the Lea County Sheriff's Office has begun an investigation. These remains are believed to be connected to a missing persons case that came to light in 2019.

Following the dissemination of distressing information regarding Cecil Villanueva, a resident of the area, on November 6, 2024, law enforcement officers carried out the execution of a search warrant at a residence located on South 4th Street.

In response to the fact that Villanueva had been observed throwing away items that seemed to be human bones, the authorities decided to conduct additional investigations.

Officials discovered ten to twenty human skulls, as well as fragments of skulls and jawbones, after performing a comprehensive search. The remains, which were taken to the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque for further investigation, have been provided with assistance from forensic professionals who have been participating in the analysis process.

In order to provide assistance with the ongoing search and identification procedure, a forensic anthropologist joined the team on November 9, 2024.

Considering that Angela McManes's last known location was located in close proximity to the land where the remains were discovered, it is assumed that the remains are connected to the disappearance that began in 2019.

As the authorities try to establish the identity of the remains, they are also conducting an investigation into the case to identify any further possible victims. The authorities are resolved to find all of the information that lies behind these unpleasant discoveries, and this inquiry is still underway.
