In the decade since their formation in Lubbock, Texas, Flatland Cavalry has progressed from performing at local venues to headlining national tours, receiving award nominations, and contributing songs to films such as Twisters and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Frontman Cleto Cordero expressed the band's nostalgia and pride as he reflected on the voyage.

Flatland's most recent single, "Lubbock," is a tribute to the Hub City that initially welcomed them. Cordero compared the request to iconic anthems such as "Country Roads" and "Sweet Home Alabama," stating that Texas Tech Athletics sought a song that could embody the character of the region. The single allowed Cordero and the band to demonstrate their affection for the area that influenced their sound.

The band's career was launched in 2014 with their initial performances at The Blue Light on Buddy Holly Avenue, where they rapidly established a following. Lance Lusk, the band's co-owner, acknowledged its expansion and influence, attributing it to Flatland Cavalry's role in establishing the local venue and themselves.

Flatland Cavalry celebrates their Texas origins while reaching audiences across the country, as evidenced by recent milestones such as RIAA gold certification for their single "A Life Where We Work Out" and a major label partnership with Interscope for their album *Wandering Star.
