Concerns are being raised by health experts in Texas as the measles outbreak in the state continues to spread. There have been 58 confirmed cases of the disease, including the first infection to be reported in Lubbock in over 21 years.

There have been further infections found in Terry (9), Yoakum (2), Lynn (1), and Lubbock (1) counties, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Gaines County is responsible for the majority of the cases (45). , However, other counties have also been recognized as having infections.

Up to this point, thirteen individuals have been admitted to the hospital, four of whom have received vaccinations. Children are the primary victims of the outbreak, with 33 cases reported among children aged 5 to 17 years old and 15 cases reported among children under the age of 4.

Health experts have issued a warning that measles is highly contagious, and they anticipate that there will be other cases. In addition, three cases have been documented in Lea County, New Mexico, which may have a connection to the outbreak that occurred in Texas.

Fever, cough, sore throat, red eyes, and a rash that spreads are some of the symptoms that may be present. Those who have not yet had their MMR vaccination are strongly encouraged to do so immediately by the Department of State Health Services.
